Notes for Elizabeth Marshall
Elizabeth Marshall WADDELL immigrated in 1881 and gave birth to her first American-born child, Margaret, in 1882. She was living with her family at 468 First Street in Troy in June 1900. She was described by her granddaughter Margaret SHARPE as "very capable, hard-working, interested in everything including the movies (in their infancy at the time) and thetheater". Her daughter, Marion Golder Waddell Davies (with daughters Elizabeth and Margaret), returned to live with her in Troy following the death of William DAVIES in 1918. Elizabeth's children, Margaret Gilchrist and James Archibald, and adopted daughter Annie also lived with her and Archibald. Elizabeth predeceased her husband in 1920 of acerebral hemorrhage while living at 542 First Street. She is buried in the WADDELL family plot of Oakwood Cemetery (Section C-1), Troy, and her tombstone is inscribed "Elizabeth MARSHALL, 1854-1920, Wife of Archibald WADDELL".
