George was a Medical Practitioner. He specialised in Tuberculosis treatment and did his training under Sir Robert W Philip, a famous pioneer in the field, in Edinburgh Scotland. He was also a Medical Officer in Bombay. He was the first medical superintendent from 1910 to 1928 of the Christchurch Consumptive Sanatorium on the Cashmere Hills.
A book Up The Hill was written by T.O.Enticott in 1993 about the Cashmere Sanatorium and Coronation Hospital 1910 to 1991.
Abt late 1928 after his retirement he returned to England with his wife Sarah Alice and daughters
